The SEMA Mustang Build Powered By Women, better known as “High Gear,”
will debut in the Ford Motor Co. booth, Tuesday, October 30, at 10:00
a.m.—the opening day of the 2012 SEMA Show
in Las Vegas. The ’13 Mustang GT made national headlines during the
summer when more than 40 women volunteered their time and expertise to
customize the vehicle in less than two months.
The SEMA Mustang Build Powered by Women has completed week three and
four of its eight-week build, and progress is beyond everyone’s wildest
expectations. For those of you just tuning in to this historical
project, Ford Motor Co. donated a ’13 Mustang GT to SEMA and the SEMA
Businesswomen’s Network (SBN), and the vehicle is being modified entirely by SBN
members.

Company, is on target for the unveiling of winning design "High Gear" at this
year's SEMA Show on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. The customized vehicle, which
was built at Source Interlink Media's headquarters in El Segundo, CA, will be
auctioned on eBay immediately following the reveal with proceeds slated for the
SEMA Memorial Scholarship Foundation, an organization dedicated to fostering
the next generation of automotive aftermarket leaders and innovators.
After months of conference calls, careful planning, procuring parts and recruiting team members, the SEMA Mustang Build Powered By Women
came together Monday, July 9, at Source Interlink headquarters in El
Segundo, California. Everything was in place for this historic project,
including the beautiful new ’13 Ford Mustang GT.
For this year’s SEMA Show,
Ford Motor Co. and SEMA have teamed up on a unique project: the SEMA
Mustang Build Powered by Women. Under the direction of the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN)
and built entirely by SBN members, the project is designed to shine the
light on women working in the automotive aftermarket and encourage more
women to pursue careers in the industry.
