Applications for automotive scholarships are now available through the 2014 SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund (SMSF) at www.sema.org/scholarships Students preparing for careers in the auto or auto parts industries may be eligible for financial awards of up to $5,000.
The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded $137,000 to 52 individuals. The awards include 39 SEMA scholarships which are presented to current students, and 13 loan-forgiveness awards presented to employees of SEMA-member companies. In addition, one student was awarded a full-tuition scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year to Ohio Technical College.

The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 176 (S. Res. 176) designating July 12, 2013 as "Collector Car Appreciation Day." The Resolution was requested by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils. Sales of automotive specialty equipment products continue to climb, with sales in 2012 reaching $31 billion according to the 2013 SEMA Annual Market Report. The figure represents a four percent increase over the previous year, and marks the third consecutive year of growth.
