Walk around the SEMA Show or attend any industry meeting or event anywhere, and you’ll cross paths with scores of businesswomen engaged in all aspects and at all levels of the automotive specialty-equipment industry. That wasn’t always the case.

It’s not entirely surprising that a 2018 study by LeanIn.org and McKinsey—which surveyed 118 companies and 30,000 employees—found that women still remain underrepresented in key positions at U.S. corporations, especially at senior levels of leadership.
In keeping with its mission to provide opportunities for professional women in the automotive specialty-equipment industry, the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) hosted several successful events during the SEMA Show.
The SEMA Young Executives Network (YEN) has continued to not only grow its membership of young automotive professionals but also to improve upon and create new programs for its members. As the 2017 SEMA Show approaches, YEN is excited to announce the opportunities that young professionals have to connect with each other and YEN’s leadership during the week of the Show.
The SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) is dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of women who work in the automotive aftermarket industry. Through community and education, SBN has been providing women with the opportunity to connect with each other, become more engaged in the industry, and develop themselves professionally.
The SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) welcomes new leadership beginning July 1, 2017. Camee Edelbrock is the new SBN chair, and Lana Chrisman of McLeod Racing is the new SBN chair-elect. The SBN works toward the advancement of women in the automotive aftermarket industry. Through education and networking programs, the network provides women with community and resources to advance their careers.
At the 50th SEMA Show this past November, the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) introduced a new awareness campaign entitled “She Is.” The campaign launched at the 2016 SEMA Industry Awards Banquet on Thursday evening of the Show with a video featuring successful women in the automotive aftermarket industry and the diverse roles they play.
Another year is in the books for the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN)—a year that brought both seasoned and new committee members to the network, each committed to providing opportunities for professional women in the automotive specialty-equipment industry.
There have been only a handful of women on the SEMA Board of Directors (BOD), and four of them chaired the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) before rising to the Board. Luanne Brown is one of those women.
The SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) hosted the Gear Up Girl networking event for the fourth time at the 2014 SEMA Show. The gathering provides a unique opportunity created for the benefit of female students pursuing careers in the automotive industry.
