Caught testing in Dearborn, Michigan, the Bronco mule wears light camo over a cobbled-together Ranger T6 body. The Bronco was recently seen testing with a Jeep Wrangler and a Toyota 4Runner, but it was a task to capture them all in one image, since they’d been leaving the proving grounds at different times.
The Bronco will have body-on-frame construction and (unlike the Ranger) will have coil-spring solid axles in the front and rear. According to sources, the Bronco will have Dana Spicer AdvanTEK axles, with a Dana 33 up front and a Dana 44 for the rear. The axles will be assembled at a new facility in Toledo, Ohio.
This Ranger prototype was caught testing around Ford’s headquarters. It could foreshadow a diesel version of the midsize truck for the U.S. market.
Note a few components, including the strange-looking equipment under the truck and something in its bed, just behind the cab. According to sources, the metallic items in the bed are actually the truck’s exhaust, fed by catalytic converters that are the items beneath the vehicle, so it’s assumed that this is a powertrain mule for a potential diesel version of the Ranger.
The engine is probably a 2.0L single-turbo diesel, which is offered in foreign versions, where it’s rated at 158 hp and 284 lb.-ft. of torque.
’20 Shelby GT500
Here is the ’20 GT500, spied on the road in race red. The car debuted back in January, and Ford stated that the GT500 will be capable of mid-three-second 0–60-mph and sub-11-sec. quarter-mile scores. The Shelby GT500 features the best Mustang track times, the best cornering and the largest brakes of any domestic sports coupe, thanks to tech transfer from Ford GT and Mustang GT4 racing programs.
The GT500 is expected to hit dealerships this fall. It will also be available in Grabber Lime.
