The rumor mill continues to stir for the next Land Rover Defender, but this is the first time a test mule has been spotted. It appears to be a test bed for the three-door 90 Defender. Viewed from the front and rear, it looks like a disguised Range Rover Sport, but side-on, a huge chunk of the SUV’s wheelbase has been lopped out.

It is expected that the Defender will utilize parts from other Land Rover vehicles and be built alongside other cars from the range.

Beyond the basic model, Land Rover is planning to introduce an entirely new family of Defenders, and designer Gerry McGovern has hinted at a performance SVR version of the forthcoming 4x4.

This is the ’19 GMC Sierra 1500, caught while testing in Los Angeles. Like the Chevrolet Silverado, the Sierra will get a major redo for 2019, with a significant revision that keeps some conservative construction methods but adds new technology and refinement. For the GMC, a blocky, upright grille and light setup will run counter to the Silverado’s new rounded, car-like face.

The GMC will get two V8s: a 5.3L and 6.2L. The latter V8 and the new 3.0L inline-six turbodiesel will also benefit from start/stop technology. It’s likely that base models will continue with a six-speed automatic transmission and go up to a 10-speed auto on higher trims. Also reserved for higher trims will be a power tailgate.

The Jeep Renegade is up for its first makeover, and spies in the Arctic Circle snagged shots with less of a disguise.

Judging by the remaining camouflage, the Renegade will receive modifications to the bumpers, grille, headlights, taillights and a slight update to the cabin and dash. No changes are expected under the hood. The facelifted Renegade should hit dealers in 2019.
