Four WheelerThanks to a better economy and lower gas prices, trucks have made a comeback in the aftermarket. As a result, they had a major presence at the 2016 SEMA Show. From classics such as a ’41 Dodge Power Wagon and a ’58 Jeep FC170 that was named a SEMA Battle of the Builders Top 10 finalist to modern marvels such as a ’17 Ford F-250 and a ’16 Nissan Titan XD with 37-in. tires, almost every type of pickup ever produced was displayed at the SEMA Show.

Products were entered in 16 different categories, and awards were given to the most innovative and cutting-edge automotive aftermarket products based on a variety of factors that included quality, marketability, innovation, technology, consumer appeal and more. As part of the program, every product submitted was displayed in the New Products Showcase and promoted to hundreds of media outlets. Battle of the Builders Interest Continues to Grow

Hot Rod MagIn only three years, the SEMA Battle of the Builders competition, held annually during the SEMA Show, has grown by leaps and bounds, and interest in this year’s edition was at an all-time high. Thanks in part to more than 250 vehicles that were entered into the competition and the new Young Guns distinction for builders who were 34 years old and under, this year’s contest generated plenty of media coverage (see the samples below) and will again be showcased in its own hour-long TV special that will air February 6, 2017, on the Velocity Network.

SEMA Garage Is Your One-Stop Shop

Chicago TribuneOver the last year, the SEMA Board of Directors—working closely with SEMA members and other industry leaders—has made it a priority to engage the next generation of automotive professionals. The aftermarket has joined together to give today’s youth hands-on experience with vehicle modifications, thereby igniting the passion that many of them already have.
