The niche has been on a steady market recovery since the 2008 recession, showing strong signs of improvement each year. The following is a compendium of the products that will help extend growth in future years from the 2015 SEMA Show.

132 Piece Tool CaseThe Tools & Equipment section was one of the most-visited destinations in the North Hall at the 2015 SEMA Show. More than 200 exhibitors displayed products, including specialized tools and equipment, uniforms and other supplies. Additionally, close to 200 products were entered into the 2015 New Products Showcase. You’ll find those entries here for your perusal—all designed to up the efficiency of your next project.

Metal Polishing KitThe Collision Repair and Refinish category of the 2015 New Products Showcase featured 125 product entries, up 44% from the 2014 Show. Exhibitors introduced specialized tools, the latest equipment and innovative supplies for technicians to use in professional paint and body shops, many of which were developed to help repair shops cope with the ongoing move to low VOC repair methods. Powersports Parts and Accessories

Special Force SeriesIn the Upper South Hall at the 2015 SEMA Show, buyers could find a space dedicated to the powersports niche of the specialty-equipment market. The term “powersports” encompasses a wide range of recreational activities, providing parts and accessories for motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, side-by-sides and scooters, used both on the road and off pavement.

New Products

Heavy Duty Clutch KitsAdvanced Clutch Technology (ACT) released heavy-duty clutch kits for ’13–’15 Ford Focus ST, ’06–’14 VW 2.0L Turbo, ’02–’05 VW 2.8L six-speed, ’04 VW R32 3.2L and ’00–’06 VW 1.8L Turbo applications. While each of the kits is engineered for the specific make and model, they all include a heavy-duty pressure plate, a choice of street or race disc, a concentric slave cylinder with release bearing, and an alignment tool.

Mobile-Electronics Products

Three-Channel AmplifierAt the 2015 SEMA Show the majority of new mobile-electronics segment products reflected a shift toward the latest in audio/video entertainment, while others demonstrated the aftermarket’s growing participation in the driver safety segment. In total, there was a 34% increase in products entered into the Mobile Electronics category.

Product and Catalog Showcase

Boom MatBoom Mat’s 12-page product catalog offers interior comfort solutions for every thermal and acoustic control issue and features the same top products used by the pros including: Boom Mat Damping Material, Under Carpet (UC) and UC Lite, Leather Look Sound Barrier, Moldable Noise Barrier, Under Hood Thermal Acoustic Lining and Floor and Tunnel Shield II.

Hot-Rod Products

GTR TaillightsSince SEMA’s inception during the ’60s, the hot-rod market has been expanding with new products intended to make the culture of performance and restoration a continuing trend. The New Products Showcase gives Showgoers a shortcut to discovering the cutting-edge products that are keeping this segment on the forefront of the aftermarket industry. Exhibiting a positive trend, the Showcase had a 37% growth in product entries for products classified under the hot rod title. The following pages offer a look at the new products within the hot-rod segment.

Truck, SUV and Off-Road Parts for Work and Play

Ground Force Leveling KitThe trucks, SUVs and off-road section at the 2015 SEMA Show stretched more than 180,000 net square feet, and 42% of all display vehicles at the Show were trucks, Jeeps or SUVs. Those indicators are consistent with the fact that Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado and Jeep’s Cherokee and Wrangler models have seen significant sales growth over the past several years, according to the “2015 SEMA Market Report.” It was no surprise, then, that the 2015 SEMA Awards for Hottest Truck and Hottest 4x4-SUV (presented annually to the most-featured vehicles around the Show) went to the Ford F-Series and the Jeep Wrangler, respectively.
