On the Road Again

In June, 10 members of SEMA’s Young Executives Network (YEN) set out on the Hot Rod Power Tour. The network, which has a stated goal of cultivating talents and facilitating connections for SEMA-member company employees under age 40, has offered this program for the past three years in order to raise industry awareness and create connection points for up-and-coming industry leaders.

Battle of the Builders

In addition to hot products and leading manufacturers, the annual SEMA Show attracts top vehicle builders who debut their one-of-a-kind creations in front of more than 140,000 industry professionals at the world’s premier automotive trade gathering. For many of these builders, the SEMA Battle of the Builders is their chance to prove that they are among the elite. Hundreds enter; only one can win.

Second Annual SEMA Ignited

2015 SEMA IgnitedSEMA Ignited, conceived as a way for SEMA Show exhibitors to extend their brands to a consumer audience, kicked off Friday night after the weeklong, trade-only SEMA Show ended. The Ignited event, situated just a short walk from the Las Vegas Convention Center, gave thousands of car enthusiasts a magical opportunity to view singular automotive creations on display at the world-famous SEMA Show.

North American International Auto Show

Ford RaptorWhile the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit was more about modern and efficient musclecars such as the Dodge Hemi Hellcat Challenger and Charger, Ford Shelby GT350 and GT Supercar and Cadillac CTS-V, this year’s show had many companies focusing on their lines of pickups that come in many shapes and sizes. With gas prices going lower by the week, light-truck market sales have overtaken sales of cars. A recent article in Automotive News indicated that 60% of new vehicles purchased are now categorized as light trucks.

The process of moving a concept to a fully functioning business can be daunting for young entrepreneurs whose resources may be limited, and it’s nearly impossible to accomplish alone.

2016 Global Media Awards

Global Media AwardsTo highlight and recognize the global reach of vehicle personalization and customization, the 2015 SEMA Show marked the 12th time a prestigious global panel of 31 journalists from 19 countries was charged with selecting 10 products each from the New Products Showcase that they believed would resonate among consumers in their markets. The task was made more difficult in that this year’s New Products Showcase featured the largest number of new products ever—more than 2,700—covering the broad span of the industry from performance-street to Off-Road/4WD and street-rod/custom car products.

Omix-ADA and SEMA Cares Build a Custom Jeep Wrangler for Charity

SEMA Cares JeepOmix-ADA showcased a custom Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited built in support of SEMA Cares at its Off-Road Success Center during the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, marking the third time that Omix-ADA has partnered with SEMA Cares over the past three years. The first was with a donation of $50,000 in 2013. Last year, it was with the first-ever offering of a custom-built Jeep Wrangler, with all proceeds going to the charity.
