SEMA Board of Directors Election Results [1]

Wade Kawasaki of the Coker Group has been elected the chairman-elect of SEMA and joins the newly elected Board members to help lead the association for the 2015-2017 term. Kawasaki fills the position held for the past two years by Doug Evans of Luken Communications. Evans will begin serving his term as chairman in July. The newly elected SEMA Board volunteers are Susan Carpenter of JR Products, Laurel Dasher of Powerteq and Dan Kahn of Kahn Media Inc. Jim Bingham of Winner's Circle Speed & Custom Inc. and Nick Gramelspacher of Meyer Distributing were re-elected and will serve another term.

U.S Congress Introduces Bill to Allow Limited Production [2]

Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) and Rep. Gene Green (D-TX) have introduced bipartisan legislation that would enable low volume car manufacturers to produce turn-key replica vehicles for customers nationwide. Replica vehicles resemble classic cars produced at least 25 years ago. Supported by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the "Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act of 2015" (H.R. 2675) would allow companies to construct up to 500 such cars a year subject to federal regulatory oversight.

SEMA Data Co-op Reaches 1,000 Member Milestone [3]

The SEMA Data Co-op (SDC) recently announced the addition of its 1,000th member, now featuring over 385 Supplier brands and over 620 data Receivers registered in the system.

New SEMA Show Expansion Area Near South Hall [4]

The 2015 SEMA Show will include a new expansion area to accommodate additional exhibitors during the SEMA Show on Tuesday-Friday, November 3-6, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Located in the outside area south of the Las Vegas Convention Center (adjacent to the Renaissance Hotel), this new First-Time and Featured Exhibitors area will also include a transportation hub and serve as a primary thoroughfare into the SEMA Show.

Casting Call For SEMA Builders [5]

Applications are now being accepted (at www.semaignited.com [6]) for the 2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders to be held at the 2015 SEMA Show, November 3-6. The automotive build competition that debuted last year and garnered nationwide attention as the focus of a Velocity TV special was viewed by more than one million fans.
