SEMA Overseas Business Development Program Set For Australia

-- Australian and New Zealand businesses to meet top U.S. auto parts manufacturers during second
annual SEMA Business Expo on May 24 in Melbourne –

DIAMOND BAR, CA (May 8, 2017) – Following a successful inaugural event last year, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) will host a second SEMA Australia & New Zealand Business Development Expo in Melbourne, Australia, on May 24, 2017.

The Business Development Expo gives distributors and retailers in Australia and New Zealand an opportunity to meet leading manufacturers of auto parts and accessories from the United States. This year’s Business Development Expo affords Australian and New Zealand buyers an all too rare chance to meet one-on-one with leading U.S. SEMA member manufacturers.

“The SEMA Business Development Expo is a great way for executives from leading U.S. brands to spend a day in private discussions with top distributors, retailers, and installers followed by an evening BBQ,” said SEMA Senior Director of International & Government Affairs Linda Spencer. “We are also excited about the second annual SEMA-AAAA reception to be held the next night, on May 25, bringing together industry leaders -- including manufacturers and distributors -- from Australia, New Zealand and the U.S.”

Australia was selected as the fourth overseas market to host a SEMA Business Development Expo because it meets each of the criteria used by the association to select promising targets, including a passion for customizing, a sizeable pool of potential customers, sufficient disposable income to purchase specialty products, and a legal framework for allowing customization.

Australians and New Zealanders are diehard enthusiasts and their specialty markets cover all niches, such as off-roading, street performance, racing, styling, classic/vintage, and car care. Additionally, Australia has more than 17.6 million registered vehicles and features the highest vehicle ownership per capita in the world (747 vehicles per 1,000 residents). It is also one of the world’s 20 richest countries with low unemployment, and more than 1 million vehicles are sold annually in the country.

“Performance and individuality are deeply rooted in the Australian automotive culture, and tailoring vehicles to meet individual’s specifications, needs and preferences are a daily occurrence Down Under,” said Jay Crouch, senior design engineer for business development at Injen Technology, a participating exhibitor last year. “The buyers were over-the-top friendly and very welcoming to us. They were warm, welcoming, and truly into talking about the products we have to offer.”
