SEMA Garage Holds Open House Amid Regulatory Uncertainty

Diamond Bar, CA (August 2, 2016) – Hundreds of motorsports manufacturers, racers, celebrities and supporters gathered at the SEMA Garage’s annual Open House on July 28, where they got a firsthand look at SEMA’s state-of-the-art facility. The Industry Innovation Center gives auto parts manufacturers a convenient way to test their cars and products to ensure they meet state and federal regulations. In fact, this year’s Open House featured the Garage’s emissions compliance center.

Sung Kang Partners with SEMA and Shell for "Project Underdog"

SEMA Again Secures U.S. Senate Resolution Designating July 8th as “Collector Car Appreciation Day”

Washington, DC (June 23, 2016) – The U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 507 (S. Res. 507) designating July 8, 2016 as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.”  The Resolution was requested by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils.  The date marks the seventh commemoration in what has become an annual event to celebrate and raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.

SEMA Announces Board Election Results

DIAMOND BAR, CA (May 31, 2016) - Results of the 2016 SEMA Board of Directors election are in, with Chris Douglas from COMP Performance Group, Kyle Fickler of Aeromotive Inc. and Les Rudd from Bob Cook Sales elected to serve on the board. While Fickler is a current SEMA Board member who was re-elected onto the group, Douglas and Rudd will join as the newest members of the group.

CONFUSION REIGNS: Racing Industry, Community Call for Clarifying Congressional Action Following Latest EPA Action

WASHINGTON (April 18, 2016) – A recent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decision has done little to protect the future of American motorsports and the racing industry. Despite Friday’s announcement, the EPA continues to claim that it has the authority to regulate street cars modified exclusively for the track. The racing industry cannot live with this doubt and uncertainty.  The Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports (RPM) Act is the only solution that would make it clear now and in the future that the law allows emissions-certified street vehicles to be modified and converted for competition use.

JUST IN: Key House Committee Chairman, Members Press EPA on Regulation that Threatens Racecars and Racing Industry

WASHINGTON (April 12, 2016) – U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfeld (R-KY), and Committee Member Richard Hudson (R-NC) sent a letter to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy calling for more information on the agency’s proposed regulation that threatens the racing community and industry, and tens of thousands of American jobs.
