Pinewood drag races are as American as apple pie and hot rodding, where the thrill of the build is matched only by the adrenaline rush of the race. SEMA Cares has announced the 2014 Pinewood Drag Races, and it looks to be bigger and better than ever! Each year hundreds of SEMA-member companies step up to generously sponsor pinewood drag cars, with proceeds going to help children in need.
More than 400 members of the automotive specialty-parts industry attended the annual SEMA Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser to honor SEMA Hall of Fame inductees George Barris, Eric Grant, Wade Kawasaki and Joe Schubeck, and raise money for the SEMA Cares charities.
How would you like to race your car at Pomona for only $95? No, it won't be on historic NHRA Raceway's quarter-mile; however, it will be on SEMA Cares' Pinewood Drag Races track where your generous donation will support various charities, including two that help children.
SEMA will host its annual Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser, Friday, July 26, at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Conference Center in Pomona, California. The annual event is well attended by automotive professionals and serves as a swearing-in ceremony for the incoming Board of Directors, while honoring the newest SEMA Hall of Fame inductees.

Some of the nation’s best custom-car and hot-rod builders recently took part in the third-annual Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Pinewood Builders Challenge. Fifteen well-known builders created one-of-a-kind miniature hot rods in the style of Pinewood derby cars.
